Uganda Trade Minister boosts of Increase in Industries

Mawokota North Legislator who doubles as Uganda’s minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives hon Ameria Kyambadde heals the tremendous increase in the number of industries in Uganda.

Minister Kyambadde revealed that Uganda had few industries before the success of Luwero Liberation War led by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 1986.

“We had 80 industries in 1986, now the number has multiplied and the country boasts of 4,900 industries engaged in various industrial activities,” says Minister Kyambadde.

Uganda’s industrial sector contributes 21% to the national GDP.

Employing 7% of the county’s labour force.

Steel production, cement, cotton, tobacco, sugar, breweries are the main industrial produce in the growing economy for East Africa.
