Airtel to launch Mega Television in Uganda

Uganda’s Telecom giants Airtel Uganda is venturing into the entertainment industry with the a whole new product dubbed Airtel TV.

While launching at Ndere Center in Ntinda, MD VG Somasekhar said that this is a one-stop-shop for all its customer’s entertainment.

From Uganda, you will get all the live TV, movies, music, and the content is free of charge.

All you need is a valid Airtel bundle.

The launch comes a few days after MTN launched its partnership with YoTV Channels to avail affordable data bundles for streaming local content.

It is clear Airtel is trying to harness the power of its 4G network whose recent Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) benchmark report indicated that they had the best speeds among all Mobile Networks.

So it makes perfect sense to launch the Airtel TV product at this point.

Mr Somasekhar appreciated the government and UCC towards this milestone achievement.

‘All this wouldn’t have been possible without the support from UCC and the support from the government,’ says Somasekhar.

“I want to thank you and our customers for consistent support.” MD added.

The newly launched Airtel TV platform is to help movie producers to reach millions of customers in Uganda.

Matthew Nabwiso, an actor says “As filmmakers, distribution is one of our biggest challenges, we’ve been looking for platforms like these where we can showcase our content.”

It is believed that the economic war between MTN and Airtel has increased creativity and innovations among the leading Telecom companies in the country.
