Minister Frank Tumwebaze sent away by Equity Bank for not wearing mask

1 min read

Officials at Equity Bank rejected handling Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Frank Tumwebaze after he appeared at the bank’s premises without a mask.

Tumwebaze revealed this in a tweet early Thursday. He also apologized to the bank.

“[Thanks] to my bank, Equity Bank for being tough with enforcing #COVID19UG prevention protocols,” he tweeted.

“This morning I made a mistake for which I plead guilty to & most sincerely apologize. I forgot my mask home & was bounced at the bank. I took off to pick one. Learned my lesson!”

The bank also apologised to the minister.

“Hello Frank Tumwebaze, sorry for the experience. Please stay safe, always wear a mask and follow the Ministry of Health safety guidelines. Thank you for banking with us,” the bank tweeted.

It’s now mandatory for anyone in the country to put on a mask as the country fights the spread of the coronavirus.

Law enforcement agencies say they’ll soon start cracking down on those moving in public without masks.

They say they are not yet using an iron hand because it’s still at the sensitization phase.
