MTN & Uganda Red Cross Covid-19 donation campaign ends, 22 Million collected

MTN Uganda and Uganda Red cross jointly launched a MoMoPay Merchant Code 191919 through which Ugandans could donate funds to support the relief effort, especially for those most affected by the economic and social devastation brought on by coronavirus Pandemic .Business Detect reports.
The Relief money donated was towards efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus in the country, and support those most affected by the pandemic.
Customers were informed to dial *165*3*191919# and donate any amount of their choice on MTN subscribers.
Today MTN has confirmed that the campaign has been able to collect UGX 21,930,401. congs MTN!
A statement form MTN called upon its customers to continue donating to the national task force by dialling *165*3*191919 and donate any amount of their choice.
Speaking about this initiative, in the first place MTN Uganda CEO – Wim Vanhelleputte, reiterated the MTN s commitment to stand together with Ugandans by doing everything it can to reduce the impact that covid19 is having on their lives.
MTN recently also donated cars to help the covid-19 national task force worth millions among other donations.
Uganda currently has 203 covid-19 confirmed cases with no death registered but a reported 63 recoveries.
