Fire Guts Business Premises in Pakwach Town Council

Several traders in Pakwach Town Council, Pakwach district are counting losses after fire destroyed their business premises.

Dominic Openjuru, the Community Liaison Officer for Pakwach district told URN on Monday morning that the fire gutted the business premises in the wee hours of Monday morning at around 2:00 AM.

He identified some of the affected people as Musa and Ndawula who are known wholesale dealers in mattresses, accessories, clothes and drinks among others. 

The source of the fire is still unclear but a team from the police fire rescue that helped to put off the fire suspects that it was due to an electric short circuit.   

When contacted, Josephine Anguchia, the West Nile Region Police spokesperson said that the magnitude of the damage was yet to be ascertained. 

A case of fire outbreak has been registered at Pakwach Police Station under SD Ref: o2/15/02/2021.
