SACCOs in Pallisa Task District Leaders to Explain Delays to Remit Emyooga Funds

Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies- SACCOs leaders in Pallisa District have asked the district officials and the Micro Support Center to explain the delays to release Emyooga funds to the SACCOs. 

On Tuesday, the leaders who were attending a meeting organized by the district officials at Kalaki Primary School to launch the Emyooga program turned rowdy accusing the district leaders of irregularities in the process.  They also accused the officials of poor management of the program.

Julius Okello, a member of Agule Produce Constituency SACCO demands the officials to refund 100,000 Shillings he deposited in the bank. He vowed to exit from the Emyooga Sacco.    

John Michael Okurut, the LCV Chairperson who tried to calm the members cited poor management of the program by the Micro Finance Support Centre.

Magidu Dhikusooka, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Pallisa vowed never to attend the next meeting for Emyooga if the Micro Finance Support Centre doesn’t release the money to the saccos.

Kenneth Mwamanya, the Manager DFCU Bank Pallisa, says that the bank received the funds in December but they are only waiting for the district officials and micro support centre to forward the names of the SACCOs that are supposed to benefit from the funds.

Geoffrey Okwalinga, an official from the Micro Finance Support Centre Mbale branch insists that the SACCOS are not yet ready to receive the money citing poor saving culture amongst members.

Jude Ade, the District Commercial Officer asked the Sacco Managers to abide by the guidelines to access the funds.
