KAMPALA, Uganda — A suspected gunman, Anguyo, has been transferred to Kiboga District under heavy security ahead of his anticipated court appearance in connection with a recent shooting.
The suspect was apprehended on Saturday in Aru Town in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he had reportedly fled following the incident.
His arrest followed a cross-border operation by security agencies.
Authorities confirmed that Anguyo has since been relocated to Kiboga District, where he remains in custody as investigations continue.
Officials say the transfer is part of preparations to have the suspect formally charged and presented before court.
Security agencies have yet to release comprehensive details about the shooting but indicated that inquiries are ongoing, including efforts to determine whether others were involved.
The arrest and transfer highlight growing regional cooperation in tackling crime, particularly in cases involving suspects who attempt to evade justice by crossing borders.
