KAMPALA, Uganda — Ugandan singer Eddy Artens, born Jjingo Edward, is gradually establishing himself in the country’s music industry following the success of his 2025 single Nze Naawe, a song that has helped introduce him to a wider audience.

The 25-year-old artist, who officially launched his music career in 2021, says his journey into music began after years of nurturing a passion for singing and songwriting while pursuing his education.

Artens attended St. Matia Mulumba Muslim Primary School before joining Wakiso Hill Secondary School for his O-Level studies.

He later completed his Advanced Level education at Kitebi Senior Secondary School, obtaining the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).

Although he had released music before, it was Nze Naawe that became a defining moment in his career. The song’s romantic message and relatable lyrics resonated with listeners, earning him increased recognition among music fans.

The breakthrough track added to a growing catalogue of songs that includes Wansubiza, Gwe Abulawo, Sembera, Mpumuza, Mbaala and Call Yo.Speaking about his musical ambitions, Artens has maintained that consistency and hard work remain central to his growth as an artist in an increasingly competitive entertainment industry.

His rise comes at a time when Uganda’s music scene continues to witness the emergence of young artists who are leveraging digital platforms and social media to reach audiences beyond traditional radio and television channels.
