PawaKapos urged to become marketing agents at ERA public hearing for 2020 electricity tariffs

A public hearing organised by Electricity Regulatory Authority is taking place at Imperial Royale Hotel this morning. Business Detect Reports.

Electricity Regulatory Authority is a Statutory Body mandated to regulate the generation, transmission,distribution,sale, export & import of electricity in Uganda.

The Uganda  Electricity Regulatory Authority plans to raise funds from the market later this year and through its stake holders has urged PawaKapos to become marketing agents of new connection programs and offer least-cost wiring solutions in order to make their services more affordable and accessible to potential electricity consumers.

PawaKapos a name established by ERA to refer to wiremen certified by ERA, have been urged to be critical in the fight against vandalism and should cooperate to eradicate the vice that bares huge financial implications.

In attendance ESKOM Uganda Limited (EUL) the biggest hydro electricity generation company in Uganda , currently produces an average of 138MW per day . Its MD Thozama Gangi said ”we have maintained plant availability above 96% compared to the 94% threshold”

As Umeme Limited is set to reduce energy losses to 14.4% by close of 2020. and also focus on staff safety, contractors and public, reliability of supply, uptake of new generation, growing access and reduction of energy loss
